FAQsThe Band

Derek
Accordion
Derek got his first Accordion when he was 5 years
old and started lessons with Moyra Fraser, it took a while for him to get the bug and played on and off
until the age of 13 where he started getting lessons from Alistair Hunter.
He Joined his first band , STORM, at the age of 16 as
“apprentice” accordionist where his
father was the drummer and played with them for nearly 10 years. The Band work faded away with work and family
commitments taking center stage.
Derek stopped playing for 5 or 6 years apart from some small
charity events and at his Wedding in 2011 (I know, having to work at his own
wedding). The wedding gig was enough to
re-spark the love for playing and he set off to find the next band. It was at this point that Derek’s Dad who
knows Alan suggested we meet and the rest as they say is history.
Derek handles all bookings for the band so when you email or
phone us its him that will do you a deal.

Alan
Fiddle
Alan lives on a croft in Whitecairns; he has played the
fiddle since he was eight and more recently has taken up playing the guitar.
Alan participates in SCAT and Aberdeen Strathspey & Reel
Society attending and playing in many concerts around Scotland.
He does not have too much spare time but when he has Alan is
trusted in arranging all the music for the band
